Apart from the City State of the Invincible Overlord and Wilderlands boxed set no.

Generally I tend towards the trailing edge than the leading edge for getting products (with a couple of exceptions - Tome of HorrorsII).

Mostly I'm focused on where my campaigns are going in the future and how they got to where we are now.

I have often tended to do just that; looking beyond what I have for the next fix of something to buy, and then not really even playing (often not really even reading it all the way) once I buy it.

However, my list of anticipated products is growing fairly thin lately. I've started using more of what I have. Other than the second half of the Iron Kingdoms Campaign Setting, the Atlantean Edition of the Conan RPG, Grim Tales and probably d20 Future as well, (and maybe MM3) I don't have much I'm anticipating buying, and I am finally using a fair amount of my books at the moment.

There's a great quote in Harlan Ellison's "Paladin of the Last Hour." One character is visiting another's apartment for the first time. The latter's living room is filled with shelves of used paperbacks, wall-to-wall. The former says, "Wow, have you read all these books?" The latter replies, "Of course not."

I'm always looknig forward to new releases, even though it just adds to a huge pile of game books that I have yet to read. I like buying new, spiffy games. I find it *fun*. I like having my gaming shelf groan under the weight of all the product. I like going to my game shelf and discovering some cool game that I totally forgot about.

Granted, it's gotten to a point where even I (yes, *I*, not my wife) feel the need to cut back on the shopping, because I know I already have a lot of stuff I haven't even used, and because I'm slowly getting better at focusing on a few key product lines that I know will likely see actual play. (Core D&D, Eberron, and HERO, mostly.)

Still, I'm kind of a collector. I enjoy games as reading material, and some products are just too dang cool to pass up. I mean, I'll probably never get to play Burning Wheel, but I'll be damnded if I'm not going to buy every product Luke Crane puts out. BW is just too darn cool!

IMHO, we're in a real golden age of quality RPG product right now. Being weak-willed, like I am, is harder than ever. :D

I've just realised, I live in the future.

No, I don't mean I physically live in the future, but I mean that when I'm considering D&D, I'm continually looking ahead to what products are coming out next month or next year...

I don't spend my time looking back so much at the products that were released yesterday or last year...

Do you live in the future?

Cheers!

Nope, most of my purchases are based on sales, which generally means older books. I just picked up Monsters of the Endless Dark for instance, a 3.0 monster book and I am enjoying it. I am running Demon God's Fane and Lord of the Iron Fortress converted to 3.5 and happy with how that is going. I've also been referencing older sourcebooks, a 1e roleaids book on dwarves, the 1e Manual of Planes, the 2e Guide to Hell and the 1e MMII for instance.

I like to get lots of things, I have more than I will ever use and probably more than I will ever get to fully read through, and I want more, I want it all. But I do not have a need for getting things as soon as they come out. I only look to future releases to put them on wish lists.

I do get some review copies of books when they come out, but that is about it, for my purchases I like significant sales which usually means older books.

Absolutely. I like to be informed about possible purchases, and their value to my game. Planning is very important to me (in everything I do, gaming and in life, actually).

Now, "living in the future" has absolutely nothing to do with always buying and not playing. I look to the future all the time, but my purchases are carefully considered. I stick with my 80% rule, and never waver.

I'm stuck firmly in the present. Though the past has a big influence on the present.

The great thing about having a hard monthly spending cap is that it forces me into a state of constant anticipation and satisfaction.
