that was the first thing that popped into my head when i read the original post to this thread.

edit: not my shrek paraphrase. but the fact this would make a good Onion comic.

Perhaps an advice column where the people send in question, they get well-intentioned advice from a (perhaps, guest) panel of people knowledgable on the subject of the letter, and then original letter writers get to trash the advice or become incensed at the idea that they would ever need advice in the first place. Kinda like an "Advice Column PLUS" format.

Well, so many of his past threads have been asking for help and for rules, I think that colored the reception of this thread.

Perhaps. I'm not really all that familiar with his past theads. I recognize the name, and am sure I've seen some of his posts in the past, but cannot recall the nature or subject of any particular threads. I was strictly going by what I had read in this one, which is admittedly (by his own admission) a bit rushed and disjointed. Not a big deal. He'll get his EN World legs eventually.

I was thinking "camelflouged" could be T's debut on engrish.
Then when I considered that he may have an advance copy of Sandstorm I wasn't quite sure anymore.

What is Sandstorm? (Or is that to do with a "camel" being camouflaged?)

It's the newest product from Wizards of the Coast. There's about three threads on it on the first page of this forum. ;)

If it has no Open Game Content, it is of no use to me... ;)

Ooh, that would be funny! You'd have to work in the part about mentioning the Brilliant Energy weapons like five times and having it ignored.

ST: ...Brilliant Energy arrows, which are a touch attack...
RA: Brilliant Energy isn't a touch attack, it doesn't cut through Natural Armour
ST: The arrows of touch attack hit easily though
RA: Arrows of touch attack don't exist in the core rules, as they would destroy the balance of many monsters
BM: ...Brilliant Energy does not go through Natural Armour
ST: They were Brilliant Energy arrows, which do exist
RA: Brilliant Energy arrows don't go through Natural Armour. They are not touch attacks

...and so on

I will leave that in your capable hands. :)

See, now look at this. You've got 500 posts in half the time it has taken Thorny to get his 400, and I don't believe I have ever seen you post before at all? Do you post much in the General Forum, or in some other forum that perhaps I do not frequent?

What with all the excellent advice and observations offered thusfar, I can only see one thing that has not been touched upon.

T, you've mentioned several times that the dragon wasn't using prime tactics because it was controlled by the demon. Swanky. However, I believe you also mentioned that the demon didn't care about its host, so he charged gung-ho into the fight without concern for it dying. This is where I feel believability is a tad stretched.

Okay, so sure the demon won't be shedding any tears over the lack of dragon. But that doesn't mean he isn't going to do his best to use his tool in the most efficient manner possible. So the dragon might not be free to high tail it out of there when the going gets rough, but it doesn't take an 18 intelligence to see when it might be best to regroup and then attack the party when they're more vulnerable, or otherwise change approaches. I also don't think that the demon would throw away the dragon's life in such a blase fashion. That dragon is an incredible resource alive, and is useless once dead. Not to mention hard to replace. You can't just go to the store and pick up a replacement dragon, they're hardly ever on sale.

Just a thought that might be useful in a future situation.

Thanks ^^

I mostly post in this forum but I do sometimes in the Rules and House Rules forums (so I didn't get these posts from a PbP or something). In fact, I posted a bunch in this thread already actually. I tend to weigh on things when I have an opinion a bit too much, and this is my first message board to which I've actually posted (been lurking for a bit). There was some crazy guy in a thread about Dragon Tactics (similar to this eh?) who claimed that a CR 13 Red Dragon would easily beat a core rules baseline level 20 PC. So I made a really really long post analysing a 25 PB Rogue (probably the worst class to solo a dragon) fighting the dragon, and that was my first post. Heh, and my second post was about my dragon tactics, to which Shilsen immediately responded and told me correctly that Polar Ray is not Spell Turnable (:p meh, I think it should be), but I didn't let it stop me:)

I've seen you posting a lot (I tend to notice because Mark is also a name of mine, out here in the real world), sometimes in threads in which I post, but I guess you don't notice me because I'm unobtrusive and new?
