Do you sit when you DM?

I use a screen and sit on the floor with all my books spread around me, same as back in the 1e day. The map sits off to my right. Players sit in chairs, on couches, or the floor, and they move up to the map as necessary. Only problem with using the floor is that the cats keep lying down on the materials.

I generally divide my time fairly evenly between sitting and standing. Since I have a large group (nine players), space is an issue. So everyone generally sits in the living room on couches and chairs around the coffee table (which we use for battles, and the players use for everything else too), but I have all my stuff on another table in my study (which is open to the living room). So generally I spend most of my time in non-battle situations at my table and then during battles I'm walking back and forth, sometimes pulling up an extra chair at the coffee table.

I have a 6' by 9' gaming table, with a large piece of white board attached to my fireplace mantle behind me that I use to draw stuff on for the game. I tend to stand up most of the time, and my legs pay for it later on that night. Of course I like to gesture and such during my descriptions of stuff so standing works better usually.

I started to stand when 3e arrived, and we moved to a more miniatures oriented game. I culdn't reach over the screen, to the battlemat, while still sitting down. I also makes me feel a lot more active in the game, as I look down upon the players.... MWAHAHAHAH!

I found when giving a monolouge it is best to stand. I used to use a dm's screen but found that it was annoying to draw on the battle board(3' wide and about 5' long.) and move mini's and such.

We have a long table as a playing area, and I sit in the middle of it instead of at one end. I used to sit at the end, but it was harder for the players at the far end to pay attention. Now, I've got about the same number of people on my left and my right, and it works really well.

i sit on a stool at our kitchen table. Its a little higher than the chairs, allows me to see over the DMs screen and also be a little higher than the players but I am still sitting and therefore can last longer.
