There is nothing COLLECTIBLE about a pay website.

I cant years later sell off my Pay Website E-zine collection

I cant give my Pay Website E-zine collection to my children or grand children

that is a huge reason why e-zines and pdfs dont work as a business model imo.

You cant resell them. There value drops to 0 once purchased... like the paper their printed on.

I have some magazine subscriptions, but I don't subscribe to any pay websites that are informational or magazine-like. (I do pay for a photo storage site for me and my wife. I don't count that as similar because content is not being provided to me, just storage space and tools to display photos.)

I subscribe to magazine(s), but NOT pay website(s)

I have a subscription to Dragon and Dungeon - and I have already subscribed to Pathfinder.

I receive a couple of professional journals, but I don't usually subscribe to magazines - I'd rather pick up a copy at the newsstand and thumb through it first, to see if it's something I really want.

I have not subscribed to a website e-zine, because I don't like to rely on previews in deciding whether or not I'll buy something.

I guess I'm just picky that way.

I also have no interest in subscribing to an e-zine. I spend too much time in front of a computer as it is, between work and here. If the Virtual Tabletop Wizards are talking about is a quantum leap beyond that which is currently available, I might subscribe to that, but I won't be subscribing for the 'magazine' content. And, I seriously doubt their VT will even be functional, never mind better than the current state of the art.

If they manage it as well as they manage their message boards, I'm guessing it's destined to fail before it even begins. I've never seen a message board down NIGHTLY because of "maintenance."

Not to pick on anyone in particular, but I find it funny that several people with Community Sponsor status are claiming that they don't subscribe to pay sites. CS status isn't just charity, you are paying for access to restricted site features for a limited period of time. Sounds an awful lot like a pay site subscription to me.

Hmm, not many listed subscribing to pay websites. How many people aren't telling about their subscriptions to "adult material" pay sites? ;)

I'm not opposed to online content at all, but I prefer reading magazines if the same content is available.
I subscribe to Profantasy's Cartographer's Annual - monthly download of mapping related items for CC3. About every other month has been worth getting, but they have been worth the subscription price, at least for me.

As for the 'Adult material' sites, no, I don't subscribe to any - I have enough trouble dodging internet porn to begin with, why would I want to pay for it? :\ There is nothing quite like checking on a website to discover that it has been taken over for a porn site by a squatter.

I might very well have subscribed to the WotC web site, but after the shenanigans with Code Monkey and Paizo they can [insert non-grandma safe term of your choice here]. Heck, I think that they should have let Paizo keep the magazines, and advertise their subscription sites in them.

I did subscribe to Dungeon and Dragon mags, took offer to get Pathfinder, did pay to be a Community Supporter, might do it again, if finances allow. I do not plan on subscribing to Wizard's site, unless it far exceeds my expectations, and is cheap. I do not subscribe to any other sites, because I did at one time, and was always disappointed. So, at this point in time, I most likely will be disappointed by WOTC, if I am convinced to try a subscription.

I'm a current subscriber to Dungeon and Dragon and have rolled my remaining subscription over to Pathfinder. Previously, I've subscribed to PC Magazine and several computer game-playing magazines.

As far as websites go, I subscribe to consumerreports.org and have contributed $$$ to various causes such as d20srd.org and ENWorld.org...

Being a PC and Internet Geek (I'm a "laptop/Internet at the table DM"), I'm very curious about the WOTC digital initiative and will most likely try it out to determine it's value to me.
