I agree with Bupp. I guess it was a test to know the reaction of the players and if these would be willing to buy a crossover sourcebook.

But there is an option, a new "planeshift" based in some not-Magic franchise. for example nPCs and monsters from "Beyond Universe". Althought I guess WotC would rather to reuse previous art.

I'm pretty sure WotC would need explicit permissions in contract from the rights holders to do this, and I don't see a company like Games Workshop allowing WotC to create more TTRPG material with their brands. GW after all has their own TTRPG products.
