I have a table-top group, so I doubt it.
I've got two tabletop groups, and a lot of us are really jazzed about using the VTT to supplement existing campaigns as wel as share some of the DMing load.

It'll help that I'm willing to reduce the price to $10 - and I'll probably try to VCL for it, too, along with the other online games... so yeah, I'll be trying it out and I hope it works well.

I'd really like a good option for when I move out into the boonies in a few years.

The DDI is not designed to support me and the type of games I play.

-I game face to face so no need for the DDI Gaming Table
-I don't play with a computer at the table (and no wi-fi at the FLGS) so on-line rules access is next to useless
-I like using books and magazines. PDF's, although useful at certain times, are more of a pain to use when I have a large number of pages to read
-When looking at the e-zines, WotC hasn't shown me they can publish anything worthwhile yet, so I don't see any reason to anticipate it will have any consistent value.

Short answer... YES!!! It's hard to find people to game with and to coordinate schedules. Provided they have a decent tool for hooking up with like minded gamers, it could be exactly what I've been looking for for a long time. I don't game a lot, mostly because of time / group finding issues, and I'm super stoked about the new edition and the opportunity DDI provides to actually play, rather than studying rules and looking at pretty pictures.

I can easily play online for free. Why would I pay fifteen bucks for something I can already do for nothing?

Just curious - but what way to play free is close to what's been shown of DDI?

I've played with GRiP, OpenRPG, WebRPG... I wanted to try Fantasy Grounds, so I haven't tried that. I poked around with maptool and... kloogewerks? ... but didn't get a game going.

I already run an online campaign. We use MapTool. It's pretty unlikely that all of my players will choose to shell out for DDI. From the info so far, using the DDI tabletop will require my players to either pay a subscription or a per-game fee of some sort - so unless the virtual tabletop is a whole lot better than MapTool, we'll be sticking with MapTool.

Same with me and my group. So, nope, i will likely not be using the DDI stuff.
