Do Zombies Freeze?

And as for comparing damage from a cone of cold spell to natural effects of the enviroment while at the same time assuming a magically animated dead body is no different than inamnimate dead meat... well funny thing about magic, its well magical.

So you end up with either a freeze dried zombie, or a skeleton that the flesh has broken off of... oh wait, I've already made those arguments.

Exactly, the DM can decide up to what extend magic affect undead, since it is not written anywhere.

BTW what is a zombie with no flesh, squeleton or zombie or nothing. You could assume that a zombie undead magic lies within it's skin and the one from a squeleton in it's bone. So depending on your ruling the zombie with no flesh can either be a zombie with less HP, a squeleton or destroyed.

More seriously, of COURSE zombies can freeze if it leads to a cool story idea. If you have any doubt about it, just make a new monster, crib the stats and flavor text from the zombie, and add in one line: "These dudes are just like zombies, except that they can freeze solid, which is totally kewl."

This is in general a great solution to any question of whether a monster can or cannot do something: if it'd make for a better game, just create a variant of the monster with that capability or flaw.

I agree with that but I think it is still an interesting question. How do the various undead react to extreme cold. Are the magic to animate them provide them with some kind of metabolism to keep their body warm and up to what temperature if it does.

Since almost none of them has an imunity to cold they are all threathen by cold, but how to translate the game mechanic and real word.

I.e the zombie receive 20 pts of DMG from the cone of cold. Is it temporary frozen, destroyed completly, frozen so deeply that the magic is gone ect ...
