Document History/Living Documents?

Thought I'd inquire about something I've found to be a pain to do and I am doing more often:

Does anyone keep a history of feats, spells, classes, etc. through each new WoTC or 3rd party product released? Do the publishers do this for themselves? If so, wouldn't it be useful to release it as part of the SRD?

In case I'm not making any sense to some of you, what I mean is, for example, a Spell that initially was, say, published in Magic of Faerun, then is referenced to include a new prestige class in, say, Underdark, and then was updated in Complete Divine.

Something that conveys whether a specific item (feat, spell, class, etc.) was simply reprinted, was referenced, or was updated.

The reason I think this is important is due to the trend over the 3.x product lifecycles for the publishers to include a feat, spell, etc. in multiple products - how do you know if it is a reprint as-is, is a reprint with changes, or is a compete replacement for the same description in a previous text?

I am using Emerald Night's D&D Rules Tracker (hmm, their website is down, BTW.) and it works fairly well - I would just like to see an official document history file for everything that has changed between the various published products.
