Does anyone else get withdrawls?

Hecks yeah, even just thinking about it gets me all gittery. I'm just as bad with the internet now too. If i can't get to check on the on-line games i play or get over to the message boards here i get withdrawls.

I also got withdrawels when my baby daughter was born. I couldn't run my campaign properly for a year - although I'm not unhappy about it.

I am running in three games currently:

Every other Thursday I play in an upper, mid-level (11th - 12th at the moment) Greyhawk game.

Every other Wednesday I GM a home-brew 3e game.

One Saturday a month I GM a RttToEE game (we have played the characters up to level 4 and they will just be getting to Homlet this next session).

I also play either Dark Age of Camelot or Earth and Beyond for about 10 hours a week.

That being said. I still jones for roleplaying! I'm a hard-core addict!

The grass is always greener, I suppose.

After a few months I invariably find myself *hating* any game I'm in. It doesn't matter who I'm playing with, the system or the style.

I'm happy to see the games end so I can reclaim some of my precious leisure time.

Predictably, I'll find myself itching for a new game in a month or so.

Well, when I was in the marines, I played all the time... since we had no money, gaming was what we fell back on. Going from playing at least 4 times a week to nothing can really effect a person.

I went through moving, changing jobs, and being very busy.... I still do gaming related things, such as write up stuff, buy books, come here every day, etc... but that can only take you so far.

I feel like it's coming though..... the time when I will find other gamers again and enjoy some good ol RP.

Yeah, I have that thing, too. If I haven't gamed for over a week, I get irritated. Especially if I've been reading D&D stuff.

So, I solve the problem by playing in five campaigns.

I haven't played a RPG in almost 20 monthes. There's alot to it, but basically the group that I played with pretty much abandoned me because:
A) my then husband & I were getting a divorce (we were both players... they stuck with him
B)I suffer from depression and a social disorder... I wasn't on the right meds back then, so I wasn't much fun to be with. I got help, but they'd pretty much forgotten about me.

I totally jones for a game. I hate that I can't buy gaming stuff, not only cause I really don't have the $, but mostly because I have no reason to use them. I am looking for a group, but who knows when I'll find one I gel with. But I hope it's soon, cause if I don't play something eventually, I may take a REAL sword out and run around the neighborhood. ;-)

My group sort of petered out when one guy got a new job the stated "40+ hours/week" in the position description. Going from a stay-at-home dad to that was a bit of an adjustment, I think. On top of that he has baby #2 due near X-mas.

A second guy's first kid was just born earlier this week and my wife & I (both in gaming group) our expecting our 1st kid in Spring.

Jobs & babies, they mess up a game something fierce.

As a result, I am going koo-koo for gaming. I've been writing a LOTR campaign and bought a copy of "Nocturnum" for CoC:d20 to keep myself occupied, but it will probably be at least a month before I can get some folks together again on a semi-regular basis. Just in time to get something going and have MY kid arrive!

It's cool, though. I decided that once the little rugrat can crawl, I'll use him as a game-aid. For character minis, I'll use cheerios. Then I put the kid on the table and they're the Tarrasque!

I feel for you Toj! I couldn't imagine going so long without some RP. As for withdrawals, as a matter of fact if I don't play for several weeks i start to get very vivid dreams that can sometimes turn into night terrors. I have always ascribed this to having no other creative outlet than my role-playing. If my imagination gets no other outlet it starts messing with my dreams!
