I'm not sure what they were thinking with Moore; Sutherland I could almost understand, since WotC was already such an art-driven company due to Magic the Gathering---they wouldn't feel the need necessarily to retain Dave due to a complete redundancy of skills (that said, not keeing him means they lost the entire history of TSR with his loss, too, which should have counted for something).

Moore still baffles me though: it's not like good editing was easy to come by in this industry.

Good editing still isn't easy to come by ;) Check out gaming releases over the past year.

I, too, find it outrageous that Roger was laid off. I DID know the man "back then," and in fact he's the one who got my foot in the door in doing TSR freelance. Now, I DO know that some of the Old Guard simply refused to leave the Wisconsin area and move to the West Coast. Is it certain that Roger was actually let go, rather than him simply choosing to step down?

I should definitely get in touch with him. It's been ages. He's definitely a cool guy.

And yes, he wrote Tuckers Kobolds. I was so inspired by it that when it came time to re-design the kobolds for AD&D 2nd Ed, I had that article in mind, and let it guide me! :D
