Does anyone have Kickstarter regrets?

Hrm, small regrets, mostly. Delve by Bob Worldbuilder, the Shadowdark version seems tacked on, was really bummed out about it.
The Devoured Labyrinth, the content just is not as good as I hoped

Biggest regret is not backing Dolmenwood. darjr, I feel you!

Another on the Reaper Bones kickstarters. One of my New Year's goals is to get the bones out of the cardboard boxes and into clear plastic storage containers. Hoping that being able to see the minis when I walk by will translate to a few more being painted or given away. So far, partially accomplished. Same for CAV and OGRE KS minis.

Backed too many KS for STL files after buying both a resin and filament printer.

Probably have a lifetime supply of various KS offered Munchkin games. Maybe less of a regret then a storage issue.

I'll have to echo DammitVictor and say I regret not getting the Draw Steel 'Crack the Sun' kickstarter while I had the chance (and the money). I don't can't think of any kickstarters I got into and then regretted. Of course, the Draw Steel one was Backerkit.

I've had a few things I got excited about, but should have known better. Not because I expected to run them (my Kickstarter purchases exceeds what I reasonably could) but just because I bought things I ended up not being interested in or actively disliking for one reason or another (Black Void, Savage Worlds Zombie Squad). In some cases there were technical problems with how the game was layed out or otherwise presented in such a fashion that whatever the content was like, it was unusable (Terrors and Tommyguns comes to mind here). I also haven't had a good experience with the couple of software support tools I've backed, over and above their lateness.

I've only regretted Kickstarters because I overspend, sell myself on stuff that might (probably) never get used, and then it sits there taking up space, collecting dust, and reminding me of unnecessary debt 😅 . I have thousands of dollars of unpainted minis, between reaper and CMON crowdfunds. Same goes for some TTRPG products that I received years ago and just haven't gotten around to reading. I've only been dissatisfied with maybe one or two crowdfunds where I got the product and thought "man this sucks."

I guess most of the stuff I've backed I will never run - it's more to collect. That's OK. If it's a beautifully executed product, I'll add it proudly to the bookshelf. Sometimes I shouldn't have backed something, though, as I'm not really into the genre after all and have later sold the book. Or, the product received was disgracefully unpolished. Oddly enough, I've kept some of those books as you can cherry pick some bits and pieces but, overall, I wouldn't have done it had I have known. I guess it's also a learning experience. I now know to avoid those companies.

P.S. A friend of mine backed Dolmenwood. I haven't regretted not backing it yet...

I've been in the happy position that every Kickstarter I have backed has delivered what was expected, to a high quality, and in a reasonable timeframe. It's kind of hard to have regrets when that's the case.

That said, there are a couple of things I would have done differently had I known the future...

I should have made the switch to digital-only for Kickstarters much earlier than I did - I don't think I've ever used any physical product I've received from a Kickstarter, and storage space is increasingly at a premium.

The only Kickstarter I would have not backed had I known what was coming is "Tales of the Valiant" - not because it's a poor product or because there was something wrong with the campaign, but it delivered just as I found myself dropping out of gaming indefinitely.

I regret backing Knave 2E, got caught up in the hype and kinda forgot I don't actually really enjoy OSR games...

It was the right decision, but I still regret not backing the Fabula Ultima kickstarter. That collector box costs more than a Steam Deck, but GODS was it pretty.
