Y'know, that's actually a very good idea. Print buyers in general don't have the same insight into who works at WotC and who doesn't, but for pdf customers, name recognition is key. Thus, if a print publisher grabbed someone, it wouldn't be an incredible boon for sales (though people from WotC would probably bring a nice influx of ideas and talent).
However, if a pdf publisher, such as . . . I dunno, say, Natural 20 Press . . . managed to coax one of those friendly, charming, handsome former WotC staffers to come work for them, their sales might boost by a large margin. Of course, one book alone still would not be enough to pay anyone's full yearly salary, but I doubt Malhavoc is going to hire 50 employees, so really, Nat20's a great idea for the popular game designer seeking work.
