Does anyone play warhammer?

okay, so what about reinforments in fantasy?

for example the dwarven miners. If my opponent has dwarven miners I could be completely unaware of them until they come on the board?
I would say that the opponent should be aware of those as well, since they're part of your roster. When we play both 40k and fantasy, the units are open knowledge whether they start on the table or not.

So I guess the best way to find out about this would be to ask a tournament judge?
You could, but I think they'll tell you the same thing unless they're using special rules for that tournament. Troops, unit stats = common knowledge. Magic items and things specified as "hidden" (assassins, fanatics) = secret. Until it's too late, of course - bwa ha ha!
