D&D 5E Does Anyone Use Hold Monster?

What's the odds of 10 failed saves there Han "don't tell me the odds" Solo?

Anywhere from "Very unlikely" to "Fails every time" based on the the difference between the monsters will save and the casters Save DC.

Example: My 13th level warlock has a Save DC of 21. If I cast it on a monster with a +0 will save, it will fail 100% of the time, as a natural 20 doesn't autosave in 5e.

Or you are lower level and have a save DC of 15, and the monster has a +2 Will save. They now save on a 13+, so they have a 40% chance each round of breaking free. Most likely, it will happen before 10 rounds is up.

Depends. Get a couple guys with Bane or Bestow Curse in the party. A high-level caster with a 5th-level Bestow Curse puts you on easy street.

Also Diviners. Lots of Diviners.

If you need to take someone alive Hold Person/Monster followed by physically restraining them (ropes, manacles, whatever) is generally the quickest way of doing so (short of a magic item like the Iron Bands mentioned above.)
