Does Dispel Magic banish a summoned Fire Elemental?

Oh this is where the title goes?
As noted by the Sage Advice reference above, DM, if successful, would end the spell and send the elemental back home.
Well, the Sage Advice was in regard to conjure woodland beings, which doesn't have the special concentration rule like conjure elemental. So if you think that matters, the Sage Advice isn't really relevant.

OTOH, conjure elemental does say that the elemental disappears when the spell ends, which is a pretty solid argument that the funny part about concentration just means the spell doesn't end when your concentration breaks.

That is correct. The "loss of concentration" special rule is not relevant as nobody lost concentration. If your concentration is broken, the specific rule of the conjure elemental spell overrides the general rule that a spell ends when concentration is broken by providing a different result (uncontrolled elemental). However, that has no impact on the spell ending via dispel magic as the conditional element - losing concentration - is not invoked.

Dispel magic specifically ends the spell. The elemental disappears when the spell ends. Boom.
