Does DR stack/overlap?

If either a Silver or a Magic weapon was needed to bypass the DR that would be DR 10/Silver or Magic. DR 10/Silver and Magic means the you need a weapon that is both Silver and Magic to bypass the DR.

That is why I concider the description so poor. How would you describe a DR that could be reduced by either? DR 10/Silver or Magic? Maybe but I have never seen a description writen that way. I would prefer a standardised description that lists the effect followed by the limitations.

DR 10 Magic, silver
Either silver or magic

DR 10 Magic
DR 10 Silver
Both Magic and Silver

It can be argued either way and baring an errata from WoTC it is up to the DM to decide.

You are correct sir.

Wait a sec - how exactly can something be Silver AND adamantite - either it is one or the other - it cannot be both, unless it is some sort of f-ed up alloy that has never existed in the game. So essentially, doesn't that mean with that combination you can NEVER overcome the DR?

I'm sure there are other mutually exclusive combos - like DR versus metal and DR versus wood - you can't have both - either you get one or the other.

Unlike magic, which can be combined with anything.

I don't see a problem. I would see a problem if that was the creature's natural DR, but as a combination of natural DR and a spell I am OK with it.

Also, it's "only" 10 points. Not like the 3.0 DRs where you'd run into things like DR 50/+3.
