Does miracle cost XP when killing Mr. T?

I agree that it would definitely cost the 5000xp to keep the Big T down, but the caster would be compensated enough to make it worthwhile. Fighting a Tarrasque is rarely (if ever) a random encounter and would, therefore, denote a hefty role-playing (or story-based) XP award. The caster may have a less impressive xp total as the rest of the party, but if you're tossing around Miracles, you can easily gain enough solo xp to make up for this loss.

Either way...just my 2 cp

Edit: I think this sort of stems from the assumption that many players end up getting in their heads: They're only fighting these monsters and going on these adventures because they want to.
Um, at level 17+, that's a pretty darn good assumption, even in extreme situations.
NPC's: "The Material Plane is collapsing! You have to help us!"
PC's: "Feh, we don't feel like it. Let's move to another plane... or, hell, use Genesis to create our own..."

Are you assuming that a high-level spellcaster, upon encountering the Tarrasque, can just decide, "Nope, I'm not gonna fight this." and walk away? I'd think Mr. T would have soemthing to say about that.
I don't. 150 feet of movement VS Teleport, Dimension Door, or Fly? He wouldn't be saying anything.

Not to mention all of the other people in the world who were killed and eaten in Mr. T's rampage after the party decides to leave it alone because they might lose some resources.
Not all games are Lawful Good.

My argument about Tarrasque is that he is automatically two encounters.

You get the points for "downing" him - and the spellcaster gets another award all by himself for the wish/miracle spell.

My reasoning, beating Mr T is one thing. Keeping Mr T on ice is another.

Well, yes. If I'm a high-level wizard then, absent Dimensional Anchor, I am only fighting those fights I think I can win handily. Why risk yourself unless you know you will win? As for the cities/villages destroyed, better them than me. Especially since, being said high-level caster and probably not being asked to deal with the thing after it's arrived on the doorstep of the capitol, I'd be reasonably able to evacuate my friends and family from any endangered cities.

Forgot my point. The point is, when it comes to the terrasque there is too much risk for too little reward. If I'm burning 5,000 XP, it'd certainly have to be on something more directly beneficial.
