Does this work? Born of three thunders

So I was thinking of making a wizard and going for the Air Elemental Savant PC. The first thing this class does however is make it so that the only type of energy damage you can deal is electricity. This is a potential problem (Hi Mr. Blue Dragon. Sir.) So looking around I spot the Born of Three Thunders feat.

This really cool feat makes an electricity spell half sonic, AND has the potential to stun and knock down affected foes. You pay for this however by automatically spending the next round dazed.

However, Am I right in thinking that if you cast such a spell from a scroll, you are not dazed at the time of casting, but presumably when you make the scroll? Because that seems awfully strong for a metamagic feat with no level adjustment. Why would you ever not make a damaging spell scroll a BOTT spell?

The caster stun is an effect of the spell not a cost of the spell.

Whether you cast from preparation or from a scroll, item, etc. you would be stunned.

If you are willing to use scrolls to bypass the stun of 3 Thunders why not use scrolls and wands to bypass the occasional times that you might face something immune to electricity. Not to mention non-energy spells to deal with the situation.

I agree that if it were an effect of the spell then it would happen when cast. However all the feat says is 'Channeling the three thunders is costly though, and you are dazed for one round after doing so.' One could make an effective argument either way. I suppose I'll have to ask my GM for his opinion.

As to why the three thunders would be used from scrolls and wands it's because I don't want to have to pay full price for them. If I'm reading the elemental savant correctly I don't think one could even enchant a scroll of fireball or a wand of sonic orb if that wasn't their element. It would be kind of dull if my response to every blue monster untill the end of time was 'I cast magic missle, again.'

Or Force Orb, the new uber 4th level orb spell from Complete Arcane.

1d6 per level
Ranged Touch
Hits incorporeal and ethereal
No Save
No spell resistance
No energy resistance

And it doesn't have an elemental energy descriptor, so an elemental savant still casts it as a force spell, not their element.

Only downside is it's a single target.

You know, my mind immediatly latched on to the wrong use of "blue monster" when I read that. :p

Shouldn't be a problem. Scribing a Fireball scroll doesn't require casting Fireball into it. It requires that it be prepared and it is triggered and expended each day of creation. The spell requirements are not cast during item creation, they are triggered and no longer available (scrolls are used up and wands pay charges).
