Does Tongues translate the written word?

Remember it is a litteral translation. Words change meaning over time.

Gay used to mean happy etc while now it relates to a person's sexual orientation.

knots (as a speed), ton/tonne have different values based on who is using it.

And if distances/weights etc DON'T have their units there is no sure way of knowing exactly what they mean without trials/testing (remember the Mars crash landing a few years back was because NASA worked in feet/yards and Europe worked in metres).

Peoms etc that don't use clear language but similies etc could also cause confusion.

Mars Climate Orbiter is the one that crashed due to mistakes in units...and the difference was between NASA's JPL and Lockheed-Martin in Colorado (USA). Europe had nutin' ta do wit' it. :)

Still funny, in a "Boy that's a lot of money and effort to lose on a stupid mistake" kinda way. :)
