Amusingly enough, I actually just wrapped converting all the DW monsters over to the Freebooters on the Frontier 2e (AD&D-esque PBTA) format because of how little I want to play a b/x derivative after trying it out. That just made me appreciate the content of the Dolmenwood Monster Book that much more, each entry is written with the fiction of the creatures in mind and how they fit into the Wood. The real secret sauce is all the extra random tables in each entry as well, you have scenes just sing to life in your head that you desperately want to see at the table and how your players deal with them.
