Domains spells and PrCl with +1caster spells

OK When you take a PrCl that give +1 caster spells from what I understand you don’t get domain spells if you have a domain.

So a Multi-classed Cleric losses out on Domain spells if they take a PrCl.

But then I see PrCl that give Bonus Domain and +1 caster spells.

So how does that work? I get the Domain but don’t get any spells from it? OR Do I get spells from Domains if the PrCl is Divine?
I find it stupid that My God will grant me a new Domain but not my old Domain Spells as I go up in lvl.


How is this handled?

Would the Cleric become just like the Sorcerer in that taking a PrCl is the best thing you can do as you get nothing else by staying with the core class?

Not like there are really any good Cleric PrCles out there.

There is virtually nothing for the non-Christian church cleric. What about Shamans or Holy men to non Christian like religions?

Since when don't you get domain spells as your caster level increases if you take a prestige class?

Domain spells aren't a special ability in itself, the text referring to getting none of the other advantages of the class doesn't apply.

Domain spells are included automatically with a +1 caster level bonus.

They are much like spells known for a sorcerer, included as part of the increased spell casting.

So there is no reason for a cleric to not move to a +1 caster lvl PrCl.

Wow this changes the path of my character totaly.

Unless you want to increase your ability to turn undead (which not all PrC's include) or any level-dependent domain powers.

or if you don't meet the prereqs for the PrCs, or they don't fit with your character.

Yup, really there isn't much reason to stay as a cleric from a sheerly numeric point of view. There are prestige classes to give you turn undead +1 spell level as well.

It's just a role-playing/style question, and a matter of if you want to have some of your feats dicated or freely chosen.
