Don't Panic! (OT Advice Thread)

Don't panic.

Those words, in large friendly letters, are probably the most important thing anyone can remember. I've noticed a ton of threads about advice for various things (college, girls, etc.) floating around - so why not just one big general advice thread? A kinder, gentler thread, full of love, and hugs-

Well, advice, anyway. :D

Just give any advice you have - for life, for girls, for cars, or for getting out stains!

This outta be fun (and helpful)!

I agree with the Don't Panic.

Here's a few more I've always found to be true...

Trust me, I had a bad year and if I got through what I got through, anyone can get through anything. There is always a light at the end of the tunnel. Always.

Be yourself. Stay true to yourself. Don't give up the things you like for anyone. If you start to and say "well I'll give this up for so and so because I love them..." QUESTION why they want you to give something up that you like. Don't change for anyone.

There are other fishies in the sea. If your signifigant other goes away, you'll find someone better for you.

Be honest. Be completely honest. If you are a guy and your wife/ girlfriend asks you a question, we want an honest answer. We'd rather have you tell us something we don't really want to hear, and have it be your honest opinion, than find out you fibbed.

Don't fret over life's little every day stresses. They ALWAYS get better. Sometimes it takes a while. But they always do.

Um, that's my words of wisdom. And of course, if all else fails...

...get a cute puppy and/or kitten.

Goodnight.

Look to the future, do not dwell on the present, and learn from the past.

hrm, i dunno bout a puppy or kitten. I'd rather have a Djeta. :-D

Well, puppies and kittens attract Djetas... Djetas can sense puppies and kittens from miles away. Djetas love puppies and kittens...

Okay. I'm scaring myself. Must sleep... Must...sleep now.

'Night ;)

Keep your area clean.

Change underwear regularly (which basically boils down to the same thing as the first advice).

Don't be too stubborn not to ask for help. Don't be too foolish to accept it when it is offered to you. Don't be too rude not to give thanks for it.

Indulge yourself.

Express yourself creatively.

A stranger's just a friend you haven't met. (uh)

To go with the "be honest" comment above, don't try to sell yourself off as something you're not. Don't boast about your abilities, because that is a lie saying that you are better than you really are. Don't be overly modest about yourself, either, for that is a lie saying that you are not as good as you really are. Be honest and truthful, and don't mislead people one way or the other.

Always keep a roll of scoth tape handy, you never know when you'll need it. (just used some myself a half hour ago, in fact). Never be without an ink pen (I recommend Pilot VBall, black, extra fine tip).

When in doubt, Google it!

Just watch out for the oncoming trains.

Nobody wants you to be yourself, they want you to be like everybody else. Staying true to yourself is worth it just to piss them off.

They'll be married or gay (or hetero, depending)

Only God wants you to be honest. People who ask you if they look ugly, or any of the myriad obscuring paraphrases, don't want you to be honest. Be honest with them anyway. Honestly call them on asking an unfair question.

Don't fret over life's little every day stresses. They ALWAYS get better. Sometimes it takes a while. But they always do.

Don't fret over life's little stresses. They'll still be here tommorow. And the next day. And the day after that...

...get a cute puppy and/or kitten.

Because it's better than being completely alone.

And above all, remember: DON'T PANIC. They can smell fear.

My advice is to take the above advice with a grain of salt.

Everyone thinks they want the truth.

I'll spare everyone the Jack Nicholson quote:)

Well *I* always want an honest answer. If I don't get an honest answer , and somethings wrong...how can I fix it?

;)

I've never gotten upset with anyone for giving me the truth.
