D&D 5E Don't Throw 5e Away Because of Hasbro

I think you want that to be "... or they will look elsewhere."

Be that as it may, "Give me what I want or I will violate your rights," is not a morally or ethically sound position.
Whether or not that position is morally or ethically sound doesn't affect what's likely to happen, particularly in a case like this where it is very easy not to see pirating a copy of an RPG book as especially harmful.

Because everybody steals it's okay to steal? I think they should provide PDFs and don't understand why they do not. That doesn't make piracy anything less than theft.

Yes, but then folks should have the strength of their convictions to own that, rather than blame the one whose rights are violated for not giving in to threats.

It's not my fault if someone enters my home and takes my stuff because I left the door unlocked, but it also kind of is, you know?

Criminality is simultaneously the moral fault of the offender and not the victim's fault, but also a natural occurrence that responsible people have to mitigate as best they can, even though they shouldn't have to.

All I can say is that I don't shoplift and then justify it by saying that a lot of people shoplift. Stores are not responsible for my shoplifting.

I don't see anyone arguing that point. WotC printing their own PDFs is simply a possible way to mitigate piracy. They don't become morally culpable for the piracy of others if they choose not to, no more than I'm morally culpable for my house being robbed if I leave the door open.

I don't understand why the don't release PDFs. That has little to do with them exercising their rights to protect their intellectual property and no one has yet explained why doing so was bad.
