Doors

Starter Set #2, Doors, is the second expansion for the Dungeon Stamp series. This is a set of four stamps, and includes a new inkpad and ink. Stamps included are wooden door, gothic door, portcullis, and steel door. Looking at the stamps, I can tell what the portcullis and gothic door are, but I’m unsure what the difference between the common door and the steel door is. This would probably be a good set to start making the stamps on so that the user knows what he’s looking at.

Fortunately, the company site has illustrations with the names, http://www.greendragonstudio.com/StarterSet2.htm , so it’s easy to see what exactly is what. Ironically enough, when you look at the limited set edition, they do not have the same thing so no images. The nice thing is, that by combining this with the original set, which includes a wooden door and a double door, you’re door needs are covered.

This starter set is more expensive, per stamp, then the limited edition starter set, and it doesn’t come with it’s own carrying case. If you get a few of these sets, I can see how moving them around may be worrisome, as you don’t want to spill the ink.

Outside of that, the stamps are great. They’re easy to use. Just spread the black ink onto the pad, press the stamp firmly onto the ink, and press it to the mat. In terms of cleanup, simple paper towel and some water suffices. Now note, the instructions mention that you shouldn’t leave the ink on the mat for more than 48 hours. To be honest, I haven’t tested this theory yet because it’s something that can stain the mat and I have a hard enough time keeping my dry erase markets away from my wet erase ones to insure a stain free mat.

The four stamps here can have a wide variety of uses from d20 modern and fantasy games, to other games like Champions, where miniatures use and placement, is important to know for things like knock back damage.
