As I posted in the other thread I like Downer. I'm glad it's staying in Dungeon. I like the art, I don't find the story hard to follow at all, and I think it's pretty funny. The only thing that confuses me is all the complaints.

I'm not sure the possible responses are even what you're trying to measure -- don't you want to know whether it should stay or go? I can't really rate it as I haven't read it -- even if it were great I wouldn't know. But I also feel that a couple of pages of comics isn't much to concede to those who like it, even if it totally stinks. So keep it in unless a better one comes along (and even if it does I probably won't read it).

I've only seen 3 strips, so maybe I have not given it it's due.

I picked fair, because it was closest to "blah."

Serioulsy, if you were to watch me reading it, I would have a blank, emotionless, unthinking expression on my face until I flipped the page and moved on to something else. It provokes no emotion, good or bad, and it doesn't make me think.

I don't like it, I don't dislike it.

It's just there.

I guess it could be that my banal little mind just doesn't "get it", in a black turtleneck-and-beret wearing kind of way. Actually, that's probably it.
:\

Not really my style, so I rated it on the "2" end of the scale, but it is probably good for others. The only web comics that I follow so far, however, are Dork Tower and Sinfest, so take that element in stride.

Good luck with the comic in any case :)

After the last thread on Downer, I'm curious just how much people like or dislike the dark-elf comic in Dungeon.

Too many options, and the options are too vague. A better poll would be something like this:

I enjoy Downer and would like Dungeon to keep it
I don't enjoy Downer and would like Dungeon to drop it
I don't have an opinion on Downer either way

Well, without a poll to determine who *does* like it, that logic seems kind of circular to me. Is Dungeon keeping something that only 10% of the Dungeon readership likes? 5%? At what point do you reclaim those pages?

Reclaim them with what? Well, more of the stuff you do read would be one possibility. A serial comic that people like would be another (assuming they can find one).

I've read it from the beginning..just when I thought I started to get it, I lost it. There was something about the last strip that made me chuckle, but I just read it again and I don't recall what it was. :|

Maybe a story summary would be good :)

And then we'd hear from everybody who doesn't enjoy Downer, but thinks
it should stay. No thanks.

The poll format is a pretty standard (best - worst) format.

It's okay, and I like it a lot better than some of the other serious serials they've run (Libram X, for example), but I'm still only "meh" about it... I think I'd like it better if I had more of an idea what's going on, but I've only seen about three or four non-consecutive runs of it, so I kind of don't have an excuse there, though I've heard some people who've been following every issue complain that they didn't understand it either.

::shrugs::

So I'm reserving judgement, I guess. I do sort of like the funky art style though, even if the color pallette is a little overly dark.
