• NOW LIVE! Into the Woods--new character species, eerie monsters, and haunting villains to populate the woodlands of your D&D games.

For those who don't play D&D (or its clones), what keeps you engaged with EN World?

I keep getting banned from Reddit for mildly suggesting Nazis should be met with violence, and I ultimately like this place better for staying in touch with the hobby.

The industry news. No other website covers as much industry news as in depth as ENWorld does. This was once true of other sites, but I think that time has passed. When I want RPG industry news, I come to ENWorld.

This gets complicated.

First off, I'm really not interested in D&D proper or any of its really close kin; that doesn't mean someone couldn't sell me on playing in a game of it, but the persistent irritant of one mechanical element I strongly dislike would bother me, and there's not much to attract me there. And I can't think of the circumstance where I'd run it (and I'm primarily a GM).

That said, there are a couple cousin systems (PF2e, 13th Age and Shadow of the Weird Wizard) that I find have some virtues, and I can be sold on those easier.

But I do prefer other non-D&D-sphere games. I'd probably prefer a board less D&D-centric, but of the three I've tried, I'm no longer welcome on one, and the tone of the other two put me off. I at least find enough discussion of gaming in general, or avowedly D&D discussion that really applies generally, to keep my interest, and of course there's the side discussion of other geek interests.
