[DP9] D20 Mecha Compendium

Marc A. Vezina

First Post
You can go check out the product's page on our Web site. It has been updated with a sample design from the book (a Fantasy mecha):

http://www.dp9.com/Products/d20mecha.htm

The page is slightly inexact, as far as the Table of Content goes. We've had to drop the "Near-Future Utility Mecha" and "Planetbusters" from the book due to lack of space. Heck, maybe it's the seed of a second volume, if gamers like this one...

Just increase the page count! Decrease white space! Decrease font size!

I'm looking forard to this product!

I think it is! You could also had the mecha from the various setting who appears in the miniatures games or planet book.
That way, you could convert all of your mecha!

Beast Lords? Please tell me they're like Godzilla (and Mothra and so on).

Not quite -- think more toward "Voltron."

(The Bear mecha shown on the Web page is one of those. It forms the lower body of the giant BeastLord mecha when combined.)

Ah. Oh well. I plan on buying this anyway, but that would have been great.

Not being an anime or cartoon fan, the only time I've really seen giant robots/mecha is in the various Godzilla movies. (MechaGodzilla most notably from the movies of the same name. But also Moguera from Godzilla vs. SpaceGodzilla).

More precisions...

Note that there is nothing preventing you from scaling up those mecha and using them as "godzilla fighters" -- I'll put a note on this in a sidebar somewhere, if we have the room (thanks!).

In fact, we put alternate uses for all the settings shown in the book (all setting names are (tm) DP9, Inc.). The eleven settings included are:

Guardians of Divinity (fantasy mecha)
Golemsuit Warriors (fantasy battlesuits)
Beast Lords (fantasy sentai)
Cities & Empire (steampunk fantasy)
Gear Krieg (alternate history mecha)
Phoenix Rising (modern day battlesuits)
Great Machine Decander X (classic giant robot)
Heavy Gear (future walking tanks)
Jovian Chronicles (future space mecha)
Space Ranger Ouroboros (variable aerofighters)
Outworld Changelings (far-future battlesuit/mecha)

All settings include basic history and factions, some adventure and campaign ideas, and between four to twelve vehicle designs (not all mecha).

Man, I HAVE to get this book when it comes out. I'll definitely get use out of Guardians of Divinity, Golemsuit Warriors and Cities & Empire. The first two for my Arcanum of the Stars Dragonstar campaign and Cities & Empires for my Time of Ages Steampunk/Spelljammer campaign.

The only way I could be happier about this product is I got one for free. :)

You guys should hold a contest where fans could design a mecha and submit to DP9. Then you could pick the best three and give 'em prizes.

Top prize would be a signed copy of the d20 Mecha Compendium and getting the winning mecha in a followup Mecha Compendium.

:D

Preordered mine on Sunday. Can't wait for it to be released.

Thanks!

BTW, to anyone interested by this book, please let your local game retailer know. There are so many d20 books coming out each week, even the good ones are getting lost in the flow. :(
