[DP9] D20 Mecha Compendium

Actually, the orcish Imperial war zeppelins were supposed to go into the book but got cut. The system does allow to make their stats, though (same for the spaceships).

Trying to use several d20 product on each other, assuming the mecha cost in gp is balanced, and that the FCTF rule on gp deficit is balanced, you could roughly assume CR=MP/100

edit: But that can be sure only up to CR6

(a CR 33 for a mecha that can do 12d12 of damage with one missile seems right).

edit: nah that's plain wrong, CR=MP/(100+MP/20) ? CR=(MP/10)^(1/2)?

That would be useful when determining EL.

Is this rule in d20 Mecha?

I'm actually strugling between buing or not buying the book it's at $19.95 for 80 pages, it's way higher than the norm, higher than GoO own typical price range, and I wasn't pleased with GURPS Mecha from David Pulver (though I really liked Technomancer), and GoO doesn't really provide a lot of teaser.

If we get enough fan interest, we might do additional work on some of these worlds... including, possibly, miniatures.

I want miniature of variable fighter that can actually transform theselves!:p
Or at least a miniature of the Ouroboros on scale with 30mm miniatures of Mecha :D

More Seriously, I'm not a huge miniature fan (I've just a still not assembled Ryu-mini, and some unpainted fantasy undeads and undeads hunters). So I'm more interested in counter on scale and nice visuals (art book?).

My FLGS ordered a few copies of it. By 5 o' clock of the day it arrived in the store, it was sold out. Makes me glad I got the last one.

Now that is good news. :D

(Just hope they remember to re-order more -- if it sells, reload!)

I really like this book. The rules are simple enough to figure out so that you can start using the mecha right away. You don't even need GoO's book to use this one. (Though honestly, Mecha Compendium makes me want to grab d20 Mecha even more.)

Glad to hear that we've been successful at making it a stand-alone title. On the other hand, there's a lot of goodness in GoO's d20 Mecha, including classes and feats to make these mecha even more impressive...

I've seen the news of revised books for DP9's games, with the inclusion of dual-statted OGL material. How compatible will this be with d20 Mecha Compendium?

100% We will be using the d20 Mecha system to do the dual-statting in our lines. If it works, why re-invent the wheel?

Hit locations?

Can anyone tell me if either D20mech or the compendium support hit locations? Especially for larger ships/mecha, a hit chart is very close to a necessity-- all you have to do is consider the damage to the "Bismarcks" rudder to see that....
Looking forward to it, nonetheless!

Unless they changed the content of the manuscript I have on my desk, there's an entire section on costing and balancing mecha (in terms of Mecha Point, gold pieces, credits, dollars, CR, Levels, etc.).

If you've seen "Big Robots, Cool Starships" it's about at the same level, though with d20 stats (of course). We haven't had any problems making the various designs we did, and there are quite a few options available for mecha combat. The classes look interesting.

Right -- careful not to get any paint in the hinges! :D

Given that the ship is 1.5 km long (IIRC)... ;)

Though we haven't used them for any of the Compendium's mecha, the option is available in d20 Mecha.

perhaps even purchase DC for d20 modern?

Big Robots, Cool Starship was designed for BESM 1st edition, the rules inside were included in BESM 2nd edition (I have the green version), but the flavor was left out (that's what I've read on message board) so it doesn't really help me.

I will probably buy it because currently it's the only d20 book that will be printed that seems interesting for me.

BTW, you've said that you hadn't any problem with the various design, does this include the OGL stats for starships in the OGL section of the Jovian Chronicle player Handbook, I've read that you used d20 Mecha for those also (if you have already made some starships stats).

PS: I've said d20 book that's different from OGL books (I've seen a 2003 catalog with many interesting OGL products ;))

Thanks for the answer. Now, the blankity blank d20 mecha is out in May right? Blegh. One of the best D20 products I've been looking for, and I HAVE TO WAIT TWO MONTHS.
Double Blegh. :D

AT least the compendium is coming out soon.

In my own setting, based in the Scarred Lands, I've started using the Golem Suits in limited numbers as a 'testing' of sorts. See I have Freeport in my campaign and they are one of the few places to have Guns. The Paladins of Mitrhil City don't necessarily like they so they come out with the PureHeart. They've got the Mitrhil to do it!

Some CoalSuits going on in the background at Freeport too now.

One of the players has learned about the Guardians of Divinity and some sources not place the Mitrhil Golem of Corean not as a servant of Corean but as one of these styles of suits.

Good stuff so far.

I'm not optioning the half-damage though. Any damage gets through, pilot takes half! :D
