DR + poison question

If I have a creature with DR 5/+1, and I deal it 1 point of damage with a poisoned blade/shurikin/dart whatever, does the creature still get poisoned?

If you actually deal it damage, as you say, then yes.

I assume you mean to ask about the case where the DR entirely prevents the damage from the attack, however. In which case, no. This is covered pretty clearly in the DMG section on the DR special ability, as I recall.

No. At least 1 point of damage must get through the DR in order for the poison to take effect.

I'll add a note to that - if the DR prevents all damage from an attack, it also negates injury-type poison. Contact poison would still have an effect.
