DR X/- from multiple sources stacking?

First Post
Does DR (of the X/- type particularly) gained from multiple sources stack? For example, a dwarven barbarian/7 has DR 1/-, has become lawful and decides to pick up Dwarven Defender levels. At Dwarven Defender/6, he would gain some DR.

Would the end result be DR 4/- (the combination of barbarian and dwarven defender) or 3/- (just the higher of the two, in this case the dwarven defender dr)?

The quote you're looking for is "If a creature has damage reduction from more than one source, the two forms of damage reduction do not stack. Instead, the creature gets the benefit of the best damage reduction in a given situation."

That said, I beleive that DR/- does stack with other DR/-.

For example, a barbarian's DR would stack with an adamantine breast plate's DR.

Not by the rules, to the best of my knowledge, but it's a common house rule.

Does and should are different things ;)

But I also believe that the various dr #/- should stack. they are a very special type of dr and have special rules associated with it.

Plus having barb dr /- stack with adamantite armor dr seems just like having a shield ac bonus stack with armor ac bonus for very similar reasons.

DR does not stack except in the case of Armor as DR from the Unearthed Arcana. AaDR does stack with other non-bypassable DR (barbarian DR, adamantine DR, etc.).

There are other specific exceptions - the Roll With It feat from Savage Species gives DR 2/- that stacks with everything... including itself if you take the feat multiple times.
