Breath Weapon: 10 + 1/2 HD + Con Mod

Fear: 10 + 1/2 HD + Cha Mod

SR: About CR +10

As far as I can see, the correct DCs are:
Breath:
12
15
16
18
21
24
25
28
29
32
34
36

Fear:

28
32

As Knight Otu said, but the SR differs from dragon type to dragon type. There are four groupings of dragons dependant on size, and their SR is quite different from one another: Lesser, ordinary, greater, and epic.

Lesser Dragons: Grow from tiny wyrmlings to gargantuan great wyrms. Their SR equals 9+CR. Examples include the Black, Brass, Copper, Fang, and White dragons.

Ordinary Dragons: These are the most common, size ranges from small wyrmlings to gargantuan great wyrms. Their SR equals 10+CR. Examples include the Blue, Bronze, and Emerald dragons.

Greater Dragons: These are the biggest non epic dragons, and grow to Colossal size as great wyrms. Their SR equals 12+CR. Examples include the Brown, Gold, and Red dragons.

The above is the official numbers, you can check them out in your MM in case you don't belive me. There is no official SR equation for the epic dragons, but they all start out as huge wyrmlings and grow to colossal+ size as great wyrms.

Hope this is of assistance.

Later,

For calculating the CR, there are two options: Either a) use the system that was presented in the Monster Creation article which can be downloaded from the CC. -or- b) use the system that is presented in Savage Species in the creature advancement chapter.

Good luck. :D

OK, used the monster article to guesstimate the CRs, but they're a bit high (from what i saw of it, the SavSpec system would put them even higher). any ideas on how to scale (pun intended) it down a bit?

Challenge Ratings: (Needs to be fixed) Wyrmling 2; very young 3; young 6; juvenile 10; young adult 15; adult 19; mature adult 21; old 26; very old 29; ancient 35; wyrm 40; great wyrm 44

Check their AC against an NPC fighter, if the fighter has a 50% to hit or miss the dragon at the give age category, it's CR should be equal to that fighters level.

They mention this in the creature advancement section of Savage Species. Or you could do what I do. Wing it, compare it to other dragons of the same size and power, and put the Dracohydras CR close to those dragons. (It may have additional bite attacks, but it lacks magic so the CR's should be similar.)

When in doubt, give it the same as the dragon's CR +1.

i'll apply the KISS principle and do it this way. ;)

which dragon(s) did we say it would compare to best? blue? green? black? (IMO safe to say that red is much more powerful, while white is much less)
