Draconic Heritage Feats

Hedgemage

First Post
I remember seeing a Heritage feat that allowed a sorcerer to trade spells for a breath weapon. I am stranded without books, so I can't look it up (or is this in the SRD?)
I remember that you can do damage of 2d6 per spell level sacrificed. Can a 0 level spell be sacrificed to power this feat, if so, does it do 1d6 or something else?

not much help, but...

I know a character that has these feats:
Draconic Heritage (Blue, Electricity energy type, Listen class skill)
Draconic Skin (+1 Natural Armor)
Draconic Breath (Convert a spell into a line of electricity, 2d6 damage per spell level)
Draconic Power (+1 caster level, +1 DC to spells with electricity energy type)
Draconic Legacy (Major Image, Mirage Arcana, Ventriloquism added to spells known)

(italics mine)

I do not know more, but this can help you along.

Yes, the feat is Draconic Breath from a number of different sources, I believe (Races of the Dragon, Dracomonicom). Depending on your Draconic Heritage, you can trade a breath weapon for a sorcerer spell. I believe also that it makes sense to convert cantrips into a 1d6 spell, though I can't confirm if that's the case or not.

Yeah, cantrips count as 1/2 level spells, e.g. 1d6.

The feat is mainly in Complete Arcane, along with about 6-7 others. Dragon Magic and Races of the Dragon also have them, though Dragon magic has a lot more

Draconomicom has none of them.

Yea, I would agree a 0 level spell does 1d6.

Note that Draconic Breath does a different type of energy damage and takes a different shape based on the dragon type chosen for the Heritage feat.

Draconc Breath is good on its own (a great addition to a Sorc's repetoir without sacrificing spells known), but is friggin' awesome when you combine it with the Metabreath feats in the Draconomicon. Basically, they let you apply some metamagic feats (maximize, quicken, etc) to your breath attack. The awesomeness comes the from fact that Metabreath feats increase the time needed to recover the breath weapon, but they don't increase the level of the spell you expend to create the breath weapon.

I am familiar with the Draconic Heriatage Feats, having a Kobold Sorcerer. One thing confuses me, though - is the class skill for the Red Dragon Heritage Intimidate or Appraise? I've heard people say one or the other - I think there's a contradiction out there somewhere. You can find most of the Draconic Heritage feats (I'm pretty sure they're accurate) at http://www.crystalkeep.com/d20/rules/DnD3.5Index-Feats.pdf. Yes, it's legal, don't worry.

Just a note. Allowing Metabreath feats on the Sorceror's Draconic Breath feat is controversial by RAW. Metabreath feats require you to have a breath weapon with a 1d4 round recharage time. Be sure to check with your DM about his ruling.
