Dragon #297 arrived

LGJ Question for EM

Hey Erik, when are we going to get a LGJ article on Bards of the Old Faith? Now there's a prestge class begging for a write up. *Smiles in appreciation for all the Greyhawk info the LGJ has given us so far*

Jesse Decker can read thoughts??? Wow, I'm impressed! What am I thinking of right now, Jesse?

Even if I knew, I'd never admit it. :D

Thanks also, by the way, to all those folks who filled out the reader's survey in issue #296. More come in every day, and they'll really help us plan next year's content.

hovers over his mailbox waiting for #297 to arrive

Dragon Magazine has been an endless source of ideas for me. Whether I actually get to use them all or not is another story.

Jesse: Keep up the outstanding work you're doing on Dragon!

8. The LGJ is useless if you don't play GH.

This is clearly not the voice of experience. We've featured prestige classes, magic items, and monsters many times. Most of these have about a sentence worth of information placing them in a specific campaign setting. If you can't figure out how to use them in a non-Greyhawk campaign, I respectfully submit that the problem is not with the magazine.

Every once in a while, I become bored with the silly smilies... I was being quite sarcastic.

Furthermore, the only issue ever I was able to get was the Halfling one (#285), and at this time the LGJ wasn't included.

I think that there are a few questions about the content that were left unanswered in this thread. Could anyone who has the magazine answer them? :)
Thanks in advance. :)

My "worst issue horror story" was way back when they were still reviewing computer software, and the review for Doom was written by Sandy Pederson, the main level designer for... Doom! Not quite like asking Bill Gates to write a critical review of Windows 95, but pretty close!

I quit reading Dragon for about 3 years after that one... fortunately they've gotten a LOT better since then.

I could be mistaken but...

It really seemed to me like in the Epic Issue, the fiction section was way longer than it normally is.

Call me lazy, old-fashioned, or whatever, but I could count on five fingers the amount of times I have actually read a short story in an issue of Dragon.

Are the editors now making them longer to fill the gap between worthwhile information? Also, the sage advice is too long, the chainmail section is (as noted) pretty worthless, and honestly, the silicone section is pretty pointless as well (even if it is short).

There's a SILICONE section!?!?! I gotta disagree with you man... I haven't seen the latest Dragon yet, so I have yet to see the surgically enhanced babes yet, but I can't imagine that it's that bad. I can't believe they didn't put anything on the cover to advertise this... whoda thunk it?

:)

Thanks for sharing, Colonel! We all appreciate that. How about a big group hug now...

Y'know what really gets my goat about this issue though (which I haven't seen yet, BTW) why in the world are they doing planetouched races again without making them templates? This is the most obvious case for templates I can think of, yet no one at Wizards has done so. I think it's time for me to send my angry letter to Dragon to chastise them. They'll pay the price for their lack of vision

*zap, crackle, pop**

And now, young Skywalker, you will die.

Ooops! Carried away in a movie moment there...

Exactly! The races as described assume a human halfbreed, but what about the other races? They should definitely be a template.
