A quick reply to #1 before I go to work: I believe that's covered in Dragon #315 (which has the rules of Defiling). But I think the answer is yes. Somone else can correct me on this. Gotta go! I'll fill in details after work (if someone doesn't beat me to it).
Does that mean there's no rules for the Wizard classes and defiling/preserving in this issue? That's a little disapointing even though I have issue 315.

Stopping by my FLGS at lunch, I got a look at the Erudite. Basicly, the only thing I got to read was their information regarding their powers.

From what I could gather while being rushed, Erudites have a sort of mental "spellbook". Each day, they are allowed to select a limited number of powers from their "spellbook" and "activate" them. These "activated" powers can be manifested spontaneously and cost PPs just like you would expect.

In effect, they are like a sorcerer whose "Spells Known" lists can be changed every day.

Looks like their primary stat is INT and they can learn new spells from other psions and such.

That's all I really remember as I was in a hurry.

Yes, the Wizard class specifically refers to issue 315 for defiling/preserving rules. None of the other arcane classe descriptions reference those rules at all (Bard nor Sorcerer).
