Dragon 363 Blurb

Conversely, perhaps they saw themselves as taking a bullet for Paizo. Mayhap, they figured Dragon & Dungeons sales would suffer in the lame duck time between editions, especially if they wanted to be the choke point for 4e tidbits, so they ended the license to keep Paizo from having to continue the payments.

Or maybe they all eat chicken heads.

I don't know, but there exists the possibility that WotC doesn't always act in the most insane/stupid/evil way possible, as it may sometimes appear to us outsiders.

Especially if those outsiders are chickens.
:)

Thaumaturge.

They did say that the online was going to be a little lean until DDI came out.
How can you fault them for it being lean?
Kinda like, complaining about pre-season football that it isn't real football.

They were upfront. They didn't start charging back in October.
Basically, they said...
"We are discontinuing our magazines. They will start to slowly dwindle.
But hey, we're gonna put up a bunch of article on the website. Kind of a Good Bye 3e, Hello 4e.
Read them and enjoy and get ready for DDI when it launches next summer."

I'm ready.

No, they did not say this upfront.

First they said that the monthly magazines would continue with the difference merely being E-Zines instead of printed zines.

Then, after they failed to delivery that, the promised to do it bi-monthly. They also failed to do that and for a long time said nothing.

Only recently they finally admited that they wouldn't met the bi-monthly scedule and that the content would be even more sparse for some time (although this is almost impossible to do unless WotC stuff will be sneaking into our houses and delete the meager things they have released so far)

There is a difference between 'being lean' and producing almost no content for, what, 6 months? 1,000 word preview articles take very limit time and effort, and its 90% of the 'content' of the online articles. And again, they're more similar to what was posted on the website before (preview material for new books) rather than dungeon or dragon articles.

I know that they’ve been busy with the launch and all but how long have they been working on this again?
If they could not keep up with the scheduled previews of what was supposed to be ready for printing, I have a hard time believing they’ll be able to produce new quality stuff every month.
Are subscribers going to pay to playtest and proofread the new material? Well, some people may just enjoy that…

I wonder if Codename: Baker will be able to make for the spring Dragon 363 issue. Or will it be left behind as an unfinished product of 3.5 in the dust?

Oh gods. Tell me Tammy Fay Baker isn't a new monster! That would be stomach-wrenching.

Well, apparently I'm reading a different website then some of you.
Because I've been under the impression that they were going to slow down. Which they did.
And they said they weren't going to charge. And they aren't.
So, you are getting stuff you don't have to pay for, and are complaining.
Me, I'm happy with it.

And, how are they not meeting the schedule of something they didn't schedule?
A lot of people seem ungrateful.
I don't get it.

"Give me everything I want. Right now. And do it right. The way I want it."
That's not my attitude. That's all I'm saying.

That's okay - the new generation of gamers will all have laptops and iphones, so can read it while sitting there as well.

Assuming no one develops a new device that interfaces directly and super rapidly takes care of things, mitigating the need to sit. Now there's a scary thought for the future.
The new generation? I turn 34 this year, have been playing since I was 5, and can't WAIT till I can plug the internet directly into my head.

Plus how many gamers can you think of who could do with a couple extra mitigations to stop sitting?

Sheesh, Luddites.

They had a perfectly running magazine which thousands of people loved and looked forward to buy every month. They just stoped it and lied when they said that it would continue online.

And they DID put out schedules which they failed to meet time and again.

Also one of the people at the WotC boards did an analysis of the new Dragon/Dungeon content and it's actually less than the ususal free columns that used to be on the WotC website. They didn't continue the mags, they simply put the work they used to do anyway and packed in the guise of the old mags (and they even reduced them)

"Threat me like #### my great WotC masters, I won't complain and take all your #### and will happily throw you my money if you demand it great Lords"
