Dragon 367 - Expeditionary Dispatches: Janus Gull

At first I was a little disappointed - I hoped for more articles and more crunch. (Maybe it's because I am still waiting for the Adventurers Vault and the FR books? ;) ).

But the article provided an interesting locale with a few nice twists.
Notable: They still mention the Astral Plane - is the author not up-to-date or will Eberron keep its 3E cosmology? Either way, the article is mostly edition and game independent, and the setting-related stuff is minimal, too.
I like the idea of a newly born demiplane slowly growing sentience.

My only caveat (and probably showing its D&D relations): The only way to solve the cities problem are by killing the Paladin and the Water Witch. I suppose that's what I'd assume per default, too, but mentioning a social encounter to redeem the Paladin might be nice, too.

My homework for WotC: Create a adventure that can be ended with a social encounter (skill challenge!). And considering the number of stories so far that included the concept of the fallen Paladin, make it a redemption scenario.

I really like that as a little bit of play. It's a really good way of handling the "recurring nightmare" plot idea, and it's vague enough it could easily be adapted to any system or setting.

I may see if my group need a level bump between published adventures, and if they do I might use this.

Really like the detail on the various groups that are coming into the village at the same time as the PC's - angels, devils, shifters, some NPC's that are hiding. There is lots to go on there!
