I would probably change one aspect of the story. Instead of trying to reassemble the moon (which is a bit silly) I would probably have making magical items out of the material be the goal of the blue and red watchers.
In other words, the moon is broken, so we might as well try to make use of the pieces to forge items of power to fight Nebiru when he comes.
