Dragon Age: Origins Flavor Conversion

Camelot

Adventurer
I've been playing a lot of Dragon Age: Origins lately, and of course my mind started comparing it to 4e. So, I decided to go the whole way and figure out how a game of 4e D&D could be played in the Dragon Age world. Don't worry, no spoilers.

Races
Dwarf (Class Restriction: Warrior or Rogue)
Eladrin = Elf Mage (Class Restriction: Mage)
Elf = Dalish Elf (Class Restriction: Warrior or Rogue)
Goliath = Qunari
Half-Elf = City Elf (Class Restriction: Warrior or Rogue)
Human

Classes
Warriors
Barbarian = Berserker
Battlemind = Spirit Warrior
Fighter = Guardian or Warrior (depending on the build)
Paladin = Templar
Warlord = Champion
Rogues
Assassin = Shadow
Bard
Ranger
Rogue = Assassin, Duelist, Legionnaire Scout, or Rogue (depending on the build)
Mages
Cleric = Spirit Healer
Druid = Shapeshifter
Sorcerer = Battlemage
Swordmage = Arcane Warrior
Warden = Keeper
Warlock = Blood Mage
Wizard = Mage

I can't find any equivalents for Reaver, but maybe when Heroes of Shadow comes out, there will be a shadow defender that fits nicely.

Monsters
For darkspawn, just use foulspawn. Not only are their names similar, but they look almost exactly alike too!

I know you're approaching this from a "convert DA to D&D 4e" PoV, but I feel like I'd be remiss if I didn't mention that there is a DA RPG from Green Ronin. (Dragon Age RPG: Dark Fantasy Roleplaying)

That being said - I think you're spot on with your conversion. Don't forget demons...

Edit: I'd give you some XP for your conversion mapping...but I need to spread it around a bit...

Nah, for monsters just take the stats of goblins, orcs, hobgoblins, bugbears etc and reskin them as darkspawn. Darkspawn have the same function in DA as the goblinkin in D&D.

Ah, and I'd take the essential classes I think.

Oh, I know. But I didn't hear many good things about it, and D&D 4e is what I play, so.

That could work too, yes.

I'd say you could use both PH and essentials classes. In the computer game, the classes have about equal complexity, and are much more complex than just attacking repeatedly. I think they're more akin to 4e classes that way.
