Dragon Disciple size increase

The Sage and rules people at Wizards now say no. The class is going to be revised for the new D&D revised coming out in July.

Got a link where they say that? Is there other info on the revised as well?

No, I don't keep the Sage Advices, kreynolds might have a copy. I think he has kept some.

All I read about the revised was in that thread in the general Forum. I haven't gotten my copy of Dragon yet this month where the info is.

The dragon disciple does not get the MM size increase bonusses. He only gets the stat bonusses of the prestige class. Becoming large however, DOES give him reach, a -1 AC/attack and the need for bigger equipment and bigger weapons.

To sum it up (assuming a medium character):
- Cleric BaB
- good Fort and Will Save
- +8 Str
- +2 Con
- +2 Int
- +2 Cha
- +4 natural armor
- Large Size
- Wings
- 7 bonus spells of highest level
- Dragon Type

It's a good PrC for casters that want to fight. The sorcerer1/cleric7 combo is probably the most powerfull.

The class may not be optimal for normal sorcerers. But it's quite nice once you hit epic levels and don't need to worry about your spell progression anymore.

Does anyone else have a problem with the fact that a 10th level Dragon Disciple is actually 8 Strength weaker than the average creature his size with the same base Strength and the Half-Dragon template?

Seems pretty silly to me.

That's only true if you start with a race that is large of itself, like an Ogre with +10 strength, but thats a +8 ECL ! Added to the +4 ECL of the half-dragon template that is 12 levels !!!

I don't argue with the point that an average creature of the same size is stronger, but strength is not everything. 12 levels of feats/skills/class abilities is a lot of power.

Not really, since most likely we are comparing an ECL 0 creature to one with an ECL of at least 5, but probably more, and gets the half-dragon template for 0 ECL instead of at least +3 (which is the official). And the Dragon Disciple will most likely have better saves, higher BAB, *wings*, and spells. I'm not really bothered by it. We have one in our group, and he adds to combat in his ability to use spells (granted his SR penetration is low), and damage in melee. I wouldn't have a problem if one of my players wanted to play one.
