Hey Boz,
If a 'bugbear pantheon' is too specialised, then what about expanding to make the pantheon suitable for all goblinoids. A bunch of goblinoid deities would surely gain use. As a whole goblinoids are a very common race are they not?
Just a thought.
The humanoid deities in the 1E Unearthed Arcana were about my favourite part of that book.

Some Tips
Hey there all,
As has been said by a number of my esteemed colleagues, the query and submission process can be a lengthy one. The key is to hang in there and have a small bit of persistence. It may take us up to a month to get back to your query and occasionally a bit longer if we are backlogged. Here are a few keys to help me sort through your query.
1. I cannot stress this one enough. Check out our brand spanking new writers guidelines. Some article types have vanished and others have some tweaks to them.
2. Put the word "query" in the subject line.
3. When listing an idea, start by saying what part of the magazine you think it's best suited for.
4. Keep your description brief but concise. One sentence is probably too short, and 5 paragraphs is a bit too long (generally speaking).
5. Include a quick example. If your article is all about new types of elixirs, include a sample idea or two so that we have an idea as to where you are heading.
6. If you have written for Dragon or Dungeon before, feel free to include that at the end of the email. Although it is certainly not a requirement, it helps if we can easily tell what your past credit are.
7. If you are new to all of this, do not despair if a rejection letter is sent back. As James mentioned above, rejection letters are far more common that acceptance letters. It may take a dozen ideas before we will take one, or you can get on a run and have 3 accepted all at once.
8. Have patience... but not too much. If you have not heard from us in a month, feel free to drop a line, include your query at the bottom of the email and just ask what the status is. We take no offense at this and sometimes a gentle poke helps us get back on track... key word here.. Gentle!
9. Send cookies... we are fond of them...

I wasn't clear enough in my initial post, but now I am getting the answers I was after. Thanks heaps for the ideas Mike and Jason.

Excuse my ignorance, or lack of ability in searching a website, but where do you find exactly which editor is responsible for which features?
That would be a handy little list (with email addresses of course.
I like this idea of sending emails directed to a specific editor. Maybe it is in the LATEST writer's guidelines, which I obviously don't have and need to update again - as some features I wrote something for last year are no longer there
A list of the editors and their departments for both mags is my final request

For Dragon, if you are a first time writer, it is best to send your query to the base Dragon account (dragon@paizo.com) and we will sort out where it goes. Once a working relationship is established, some will bypass this step and send right to the editor in charage of that element.
If it gets sent to the Dragon account, have no fear, it will find its way into the right hands.

Similarly, anything you want to submit to Dungeon should be sent to dungeon@paizo.com.
Once we ask a writer to start work on an adventure, we'll typically start using our personal work email addresses to correspond. Of course, for Dungeon there's less article departments to confuse matters...
