I made a similar analysis in May, and came to a similar conclusion.
From January to May 2009 there were 58 articles by 24 authors. Of those, 21 were staff or established freelance writers. 15 of those are credited in the 4E Player's Handbook, 2 were the respective creators of Eberron and Forgotten Realms, and 4 had credits on other 4E books.
Of the remaining 3 authors (Mike McNerney, Daniel Marthaler, Greg Marks), Greg Marks has a cover credit on 4E Dungeon Delve. Marthaler had one article in DDI, and McNerney half a credit.
Addendum:
I also checked articles published since May. The following additional names appeared: Brian Cortijo, Shelly Mazzanoble, Shawn Merwin, N. Eric Heath, Tim Eagon, Owen K. C. Stephens, and Luke Johnson.
Shelly Mazzanoble is WotC staff. Owen K. C. Stephens and Luke Johnson have credits on third edition WotC D&D books. N. Eric Heath has credits on recent 4E books. Shawn Merwin is an RPGA administrator with credits on upcoming 4E adventures. Brian Cortijo has written for Paizo before, but not Wizards of the Coast. Tim Eagon is a new contributor.
