Dragon Forge Novel and Eberron 4th

Evil DM

First Post
Hi folks,

I just read the Dragon Forge Novel from James Wyatt and wonder if the Dragonborn there give a glimps of how they are introduced in the new ECS.

I mean, it is quit intuitive that this race is supposed to be native to Argonessen.

Second, a tiefling is leading a tribe from the Demon Wastes. I think it has been written in the ECS 3.5 that this race emerges from the Demon Wastes. Will they place the tieflings there?

3rd (nothing with the novel):
I just created a human cleric for my party and wanted hiim dedicated to the Silver Flame. Whirling a longsword, which may be enchated with radiant light later on...
....but wait. In 4th Edition the Cleric is not proficient with military weapns.

Will they change some things from the core mechanics to fit with Eberron?

Cheers, Evil DM.

Neither is he in 3E. I guess you'll have to spend a feat for becoming proficient with the Longsword.

I think the Forgotten Realms Player Guide might give us a first glimpse on what kind of changes we might have to expect. I remember them mentioning stuff like "Backgrounds" (maybe some mechanic that can be translated to other settings? - If mechanics at all!) and Spellscars (a "multi-class" only class that sounds a little like variant Dragonmarks)

The Artificer preview in Dragon also implies that there are still some mechanical options not yet explored, specifically the idea of powers that require a short rest to be activated.

Well tieflings have been around the demon wastes since 3.5. They are the sakah, the chosen of the rajahs among the tribes, malformed and tainted within their mother's wombs. Also the almighty Hellcow has said that any of the evil planes can produce tieflings whether by crossbreeding of its natives with those of Eberron or simply be planar influence on unborn children.
