[Dragon]I actually liked #304

After being disappointed with the last several issues of Dragon, I must say that I found this latest issue a breath of fresh air. The Nameless Legion was nice, the 3.5 preview was tolerable and has a few useful tidbits, the monster spells article was really cool. Prestige races were interesting, though I already have Oathbound.

The nicest thing of all, though? Variety. It was so nice to have an issue that was selling its articles on their own strength, not marketing for the latest doodad by WotC and not dredging the bottom of the article barrel just to find articles related to the latest "theme." It was very nice.

I agree.

I'm looking forward to using the Legion myself. Just to see them would be fun. The PCs would be more than curious to check out where they are going and thus get themselves involved indirectly. ....so evil....so very very evil....

I won't be able to share my opinion until I get mine, and I don't get them until late in the month; for some reason, I get my issues around the 20th-25th of each month.

Kudos on this issue:

Great art
Great spells (40+)
Great new feats
Ok Preview
Great ENWorld Community Member Articles!

This one was much more interesting than recent issues which had very limited appeal. I think anyone in my gaming group would like to own this issue. I'm (the DM) the only one who would have bought the last 4 - 6 issues, and I had limited current use for most of the material.

I always loved Dragon best when there was always something that would show up in the next gaming session from this month's issue. That's Dragon at its best!

See, I thought it was a theme issue but in disguise. The theme was February's release, Savage Species. But since they didn't TELL you it was a theme, you didn't know it was a theme. :)

Those bastards!

I agree with Eric. Very much a theme based issue, but the "hid" it. That said, I did like it.

Something I've always wondered, do artists see the articles? While I found the monster pictures very nice in the Legion's article, none of them had tatoos that I could see, despite the fact that the article mentions them several times. This happens over and over in articles in Dragon. Anyone know if artists see the articles at all? Finally, anyone know what the monsters in the article were?

I enjoyed #304 more than any issue from the past few months, mainly because of the variety of material it presented. It reminded me of the days when I used something from nearly every issue. ;)

On top of that, the cover art was phenomenal. :)
