Dragon Mag Annual?

Hmmm. You must have missed the earlier post.....

To wit: They announced months ago there would be no annual this year.

Not sure how I can make it any clearer.

Y'know, I keep up on things pretty well, and I remember the outcry about the d20 Special, but I don't remember anyone announcing there would henceforth be no annual. I seem to recall that there wouldn't be another d20 Special, but I don't remember who said that.

No, I think the Chessex mat is for those people who paid for RPGA memberships before they made it free.

And I think the Dragon Annual usually came in January.

Has anyone seen these? Supposed to be mailed just after GenCon, I havn't seen anything of it yet....

Sorry. Didn't mean to be snappy.

There was an interview a while back with one of the editors. Main points as I recall
the move out of WotC took a lot of effort & time
its tough to make an extra magazine (basically that's two magazines you're doing at once)
people complained bitterly about the last annual; so they didn't want to put out anything that might be perceived as less than to notch.

I never saw anything about not doing an annual. One reason I wasn't sure when I get them is that I keep them(all but one) closer at hand than my other issues because of their better content.

It was the lack of content, other than pushing D20 products down our throats, that was the problem with last year's book. It was the same problem with #300 and several of recent issues doing the same thing with not yet released books (I might not mind it if I had the book and the issue expanded upon it)

I would not have a multi-year subcription if I did not want and support Dragon magazine.

Got one a week or two ago. I had no idea it was coming, so I was rather perplexed about why the RPGA would send me a battlemat; I'm pleased to learn that my guess was correct.

It's even got the RPGA logo on it -- which is a good thing, since that's how I figured out who it came from & why. (The shipping label just indicated it was from a Grant Jones, of Wizards of the Coast.)

That reminds me -- if any RPGA people (Erik?) are reading this, thanks! It was a pleasant surprise.
