Dragon Magazine #294

I think Doc is just peeved at the fact that at high levels, everyone will be able to do what his mage can do now.

Amen to that. Besides, it's a moot point if someone can walk on a 1/4 inch wide branch since all characters of 15+ levels are flying almost all the time if they so choose.

I was replying to an item I felt like replying to. If ELH was heavily influenced by Crouching Tiger then people are right in saying I will not like it in the least.

I do not like gaming based around exxagerated verbal legends. So swimming up waterfalls, running across the tops of palm trees or lunging hundreds of feet across the ground sword point first do not interest me. I see things like that and the most interesting item to me is looking to see if I catch a guide wire they didnt hide well enough.
You seemed to have picked a very arbitrary point in what exaggeration of reality you're willing to accept. You're fine with a mage polymorphing into a pegasus, but you have problems with a much more powerful individual running across the tops of trees?

You also seem to dislike CTHD purely on the basis of personal taste, which is fine, I don't happen to care for gnomes so they're not in my campaign world, but how am I hurt if they're included in the PHB?

If you had sole discretion over WoTC's D&D budget what would you spend it on instead of the ELHB?

The class expansion books could have been done much more consistently. I would have liked if a set format had been created for all of the books to follow before they were put out.

I also think a 3E update along the lines of the FRCS would be great for the world of Greyhawk.

Finally considering the topic of my other post today I think a book like the DMG but with much more focus on creating your world and running your campaign would be very useful.

In other words, you're saying that WotC should scrap the Epic-Level Handbook and do a Worldbuilder's Guide instead? How... prosaic. ;)

- Sir Bob.

P.S. Nih!

They could have easily devoted 224 pages to a single Pantheon (in fact they do in Faiths & Pantheons - due in May: 115 FR gods).
Upper Krust, do you know how many of these gods will get stats? Only the 30 or so that are detailed in the FRCS, right? Or will the others get statted, too?

Yep I saw Crouching Tiger. As far as I am concerned the movie sucked. Sure there were some great scenic shots in the movie but the movie and the story intself (as well as the action) sucked and looked about on par with a Clint Eastwood spaghetti western.

Yep. There's a reason why Clint Eastwood spaghetti westerns are considered to be movie classics. The Man With No Name films are truly great flicks.

Well, everyone has their own tastes, and far be it from me to say that someone's preferences are *wrong*...

But don't come to the movies with me. Or any of my friends. Or anyone I've spoken to about this movie... because all of us liked it. They at LEAST said it was good, if not AWESOME. You are in a very, very, small minority. And if your tastes in movies are so INCREDIBLY out of alignment with mine, then please tell me what OTHER movies you think sucked, so I can go out and rent them or see them in the theatre right away because they must be great.

You, sir, are a philistine.... and I mean that in the most respectful way possible.

Either that, or a troll.

Aha! That's it. I've been taken in... you don't ACTUALLY dislike it, you just said it to provoke a reaction... oh well... should I go erase everything I just wrote? Nah. I'll leave it there as a tribute to a pretty good troll. I give it an eight.

*coughs*

Need I remind you that there will be a sizeable amount of americans who would be upset if this happened? We happen to LIKE chinese films.
Well, you may end up disappionted. After all, Hollywood is borrowing very liberally from Hong Kong. Some attempts are less successful (Musketeer) but others have been great. HK will never end up like Hollywood though, ultimately, since they are selling to such a different market. Lucky for us.:) But then, I do like the Clint Eastwood westerns. And the Samurai movie one was based on.

"A fistfull of dollars" was based on Akira Kurosawa's "Yojimbo," IIRC.
