Saw it at the local Borders. M'eh on the reused cover and not bad on the contents.

I currently doubt that I'll purchase this book, but most of those articles are what I would have picked, so it's going to be a great purchase for someone without a DDI subscription.

As someone who doesn't subscribe to DDI I'm a little disappointed that the first 70 pages are articles that were available free. They all look like pretty good selections though, so I look forward to having them in dead tree format.

(Also, just putting this out there, I'm guessing judging by this ToC that PH3 will include playable gnolls, especially given that it's already confirmed to include minotaurs, which were also detailed in a Dragon article.)

Nearly one half of the book are articles that are part of the DDI preview section. So, even for people that don't subscribe to DDI, the gain from this book is rather limited.
This book (Dragon Compendium Vol. I) costs 10$ more, has about 100 pages more and, most importantly, contains lots of new and revised content (and even the content that isn't revised still isn't reprinted free content).
