It wasn't Dennis Kauth or something like that was it?

I have to agree. As an OAG (Old @$$ Gamer) I remember when this issue came out, I just stared and stared at that cover. If I remember correctly, the artist's name was Denis Beauvais and he went on to do some work on an Aliens comic mini-series from Dark Horse (very nice), among others. I honestly don't know if he is still working or not. I had no idea that they did a minis set, though. That's cool. Man, I love that cover!

My absolute fav cover was from the late 80's. A snowy forest, and a huge ogrish demon (Kotsche?) walloping a Roman soldier with his hammer. Can't beat it.

This was the very first issue of Dragon I ever bought/read. That's why it holds a special place in my heart - other than the kcikin' cover.

Beauvais is still working - mostly children's books. He put out an art calandar for 2002, but I don't know if he'll do the same for 2003.
