Dragon Magazine. When/How do you get yours?

I was just wondering, out of all the "Dragon" magazine readers out there, when do you usually get yours? And since your telling, how? Subscription, local store, stealing it off a truck? Just wondering.

I used to have a subscription, but after one move it took the magazine a few extra weeks to catch up with me. I tried to get them to mail it to my new address, but they never were able to. So, I just let it run out and bought in at the local game store for the past 8 months. Now that I'm in a new place I'll be staying at for a longer period of time, I plan on getting the subscription again.

I have a subscription but I've only had it for 6 months. I used to buy them off the stands many years back but I've since misplaced all of them. My comic shop gets back issues from time to time so I'll pick one up that I don't have from them.

Honestly, it would be cool to have another RPG mag out there to give it some competition.....

Been getting it off the stands since issue 274, after a very long absence. But recently got a subscription and my first sub issue came today.

Ahh Dragon-the gift that keeps on giving.

On a side note, I think the acquisition by paizo is a good thing. I was worried, but it seems theyre heading in a good direction. (And hopefully we won't see any more total themed issues-yeck).

I have had a subscription for almost a year now. The magazine gets mailed to my PO Box on/about the 12th of each month. So, for example, based on previous track-record, I should have my October 2002 issue either today - maybe Friday at the latest.

Prior to having my subscription, I have only bought one or two issues off the stand. I never have time to go browse the bookstore (and I dislike 3/4ths the local gaming stores here due to incompetence...)

PS. John Crichton, EN World's staff produces one, called Asgard, free download. It gets lots of downloads so it is no doubt giving Dragon some level of competition. :)

Oooo, cool. I'll have to give it a look. Thanks for the tip. I should read the front page more. :D

When it was on the late 70's, I bought it in a Cigar Store that sold magazines across the street from Zayer. I've been subscribing since late 100's.

I've got what I consider to be a pretty sweet deal at the moment...

my partner works in a library that conveniently subscribes to Dragon... given that she is a gamer too, every month when the latest issue arrives (before you can buy it in the stores in Western Australia) she brings it home before any of the other library patrons get their paws on it...

so I get to read it for free first then I'm free to buy it if I feel the need to own that issue...

:D
