Dragon Shaman Question

I have 19 charisma. In fact my lowest ability score is 15. I'm not that interested in the auras, I'm in to the draconic theme. I have seen plenty of aura classes, if I were looking for auras, don't you think I would have chosen another?

If you aren't interested in auras, don't play a Dragon Shaman.

Play a Duskblade/Dragon Disciple instead.

Dragonfire Adepts can't tank.

Ask your DM to let you pick up the Draconic template in Races of the Dragon? Or, perhaps get Leadership at level 6 and have a dragon cohort?

Is it just me, or do Dragonfire Adepts strike any else as a "cobbled together" class? I'd almost guess that it was born during a game in the WotC play studios...

Bob - "Hey guys, I wanna take a Dragon Shaman/Warlock gestalt in our next game!"
Bill - "Sorry amigo, were not running gestalts."
Bob - "OK, I'll take a muticlass then..."
Bill - "Dude, that muticlass combo would suck, seriously!"
Bob - *mumble grumble* "OK then, I'll write up a new class..."

:p

Right. Forgot about the tanky thing.

I think if you take the Entangling Exhalation feat you'll find it can do good things for tankmanship - it lowers their attacks, AC, and mobility simultaneously. Grab Power Attack as well, and use it for the same amount that enemies' AC is lowered by your entanglements.

Oh yeah, a Dragon Spirit Cincture from Magic Item Compendium helps increase your breath weapon damage and potentially the DC.

I kinda fancy the idea of having a dragon cohort.

So, taking all of the helpful information you've all given me, what if I just go up to level 5 Dragon Shaman, and continue leveling up fighter? And if I play the pair long enough and become satisfied fighter wise, id just start leveling up Dragon Shaman. I do have a couple feats I was interested in fighter wise, so to me this sounds like a pretty good idea.
