What are Dragonborn? Nobody knows exactly, since we don't have the books of course. But it's a lot of fun kicking ideas around and making unfounded declarative statements.

So, what are Dragonborn?

Apparently, a race akin to dragons that's existed like since dragons have existed.
Basically, if you're a dragonborn, you most likely have insecurity issues.

Dragonborn is to Dragon
as
Kobold is to Dragonborn

Dragonbon are new, color-based cinnamon buns from CinnaBon.

White Dragonbon = Vanilla frosting
Blue Dragonbon = Blueberry filled, with blue icing.
Green Dragonbon = Mint frosting.
Black Dragonbon = Oreos mixed into the dough.
Red Dragonbon = Raspberry frosted, filled with chilled Jalapeno.
Gold Dragonbon = Honey-flavored icing.

Disclaimer: Only at participating Cinnabon restaurants.

DragonBonBons are delicious.

Seriously though, it doesn't really matter. Breasts are just, ahem, fluff.

If you want an explanation, I'm sure I can dig up some old furry associates who will be happy to give their take on it, but I personally don't need one.

I don't plan to envision them so super-chunky as they've been depicted anyways, so their art hardly matters to me.

Well, one of the developers had a dragonborn PC that carried a piece of his own shell as a memento, didn't he? That would put the kibosh on any sort of "live birth" concept.

Seriously, though, if we have to assign biology to the concept of dragonborn boobs (as opposed to saying 'the gods made all the races, and they collaborated on the standard features), couldn't it be an evolutionary adaptation to blend in better with mammalian populations? Maybe the mammals are put off by a humanoid race in whom they can't differentiate the males and females, and so the female dragonborn evolved biologically useless cosmetic features that the more dominant mammalian races would recognize as gender cues? Maybe the dragonborn's ancestors were heavily dependent on trade with humans who lived in more resource-rich areas, and so the most successful tribes were those who, through accident or intentional breeding, had gender dimorphism that was consistent with mammalian humanoids and thus were perceived as less "alien?" One might even posit that trading was a female's job within the tribe structure, explaining why the females showed the more remarkable transformation.

Woo! Boobs?

I think they've developed them so that dragonborn females can fit in generic femal magical armor. :D

Boob-bumps and all.

Oh, we have been among you for quite some time. We hide ourselves among the normal gamers here. And I assure, the parallels have been drawn, we are merely keeping quiet.

MAHAHAHA.

Gamers like dragons. Gamers like boobs. Gamers get dragons with boobs.

OR, breasts are just the most commonly recognized trait that differentiates male from female in fantasy art. Many of the monsters in the MM have boobs.

Doesn't take much more thinking than that.
